The official homepage of Bert Smorenburg!
The professional lifecycle of Bert Smorenburg has been varied, to say the least.
Being a live and session keyboardist since the beginning of time, classically trained but with an uncontrollable nerdy need for synths and computer music, resulting in electronic music composition awards in the 90's, a solo album and tour (omg Atari's on tour...), midi-programming jobs in studios and so on, the passion for engineering and mixing arises.

During his study at the Rotterdam Academy of Music, he is invited to work as a musician and entertainer in a mega-huge amusement park in Nagasaki Japan, where he lives and works for ten years off and on.
In the meantime he graduates from the Rotterdam Music Academy, works in multiple recording studios, fully analog at first (where loops were actual tape loops, and SMPTE a thing), slowly morphing into digital recorders and computers.

Korg scouts and hires him as a synth demonstrator for the Benelux, before Yamaha steals him away after a few years. At Yamaha he becomes the international product specialist and demonstrator worldwide for synthesizers and pro-audio, performing in more than 55 countries, as well as working in R&D, programming demosongs and doing sampling sessions.

He opens his own recording and mix-studio in Rotterdam to record bands, artists, write music, give music production courses and work on new Yamaha products, while starting a teaching job at he Music Academy of Haarlem, co-founding the E-musician course, to teach recording, mixing and to coach studio sessions.
After 15 years of extensive traveling, teaching and playing, he starts a new job as composer and producer for tv-tunes, idents, commercials and films.
At the same time, he is expanding his mixing capabilities and experience in the Dolby Atmos domain.
Now, its time for a new chapter.
Combining all these disciplines and experiences resulted in bertsmorenburg.com, a creative breeding ground for new songs and music, recording and mixing sessions, programming, teaching and producing, and producing content as a product demonstrator for synths and pro-audio.
Homebase is the Nuendo / ProTools production studio close to Rotterdam, for writing and mixing.
Also, the platform Atmos for Music is born.
